KTG Energie AG breaks through 40 megawatts barrier already at
half-year stage
17.06.2013 / 08:31
---------------------------------------------------------------------
- Production capacity grown by more than 33% (11.6 MW) within only seven
months
- Committed to reaching 50 MW target by 2015
Hamburg, 17 June 2013 - The acquisition of a biomethane plant in Quesitz
means that KTG Energie AG, a German producer of renewable energy from
biogas, has met its target of achieving 40 megawatts of production capacity
during the year 2013 already at the half-year stage. Dr. Thomas Berger, CEO
of KTG Energie GmbH, said: 'Our dynamic growth has remained intact through
the first half of 2013. As for the rest of the year, we intend to step up
the pace of growth even further and optimise the operation of our plants
even further. We are currently working intensively to get another 5
megawatts hooked up to the grid during the second half of the year.'
KTG Energie continues to push ahead the expansion of its production
capacities. Having started up two plants in Schöllnitz and Vehlefanz which
boosted total capacity by 7.0 megawatts (MW) to 35 MW at the end of 2012,
the company has now taken another 4.6 MW into operation. 3.6 MW was
contributed by the acquisition of an attractively priced biogas plant in
Quesitz where approvals for a 1.6 megawatt expansion are already in place.
Built just outside Leipzig in 2009, the plant is an ideal fit for the
company's existing portfolio. Several farms operated in the vicinity by
parent company KTG Agrar AG will ensure a reliable local supply of
sufficient input materials for the production of 800 kilowatts of
electricity for direct marketing plus 700 norm cubic metres of biogas
refined to natural gas standards.
In addition to this acquisition, KTG Energie has completed another two
biogas plants in Gross Tessin and Perleberg which will be commissioned in
June. Each will produce 500 kW of clean electrical energy. This will bring
KTG Energie's production capacity to approximately 40 megawatts, meaning
that the 2013 target has already been reached at the half-year stage - and
the expansion continues.
KTG Energie remains headed for growth. Apart from building up its
production capacity the company also targets a clearly positive sales and
earnings performance. During the current year sales revenues are to be
boosted from EUR 31.6 million to EUR 50 million and the EBIT margin is to
be kept stable. Says Dr. Thomas Berger: 'Given the steady expansion of our
production capacity within our highly predictable business model, we can
envisage another sales and profit increase for 2014 already today.' The
coming months will see the commissioning of more biogas plants as well as
several construction starts. In addition, KTG Agrar is contemplating the
acquisition of existing biogas plants.
