The review of strategic options for Komax Solar and Komax Medtech announced with
the publication of the annual results on 19 March 2013 is now complete. The
Board of Directors has decided that Komax should focus even more closely on
Komax Wire in the future. Komax Wire is the leader in its markets and is very
profitable. Furthermore, the business model offers growth potential which will
continue to be tapped into as part of the ongoing strategy.
Although the photovoltaics industry will no doubt remain interesting in the long
term, the activities of Komax Solar will no longer form part of Komax's core
business in the future. The Board of Directors considers the risk profile of
this business to be incompatible with the Group's objectives. An alternative
solution will therefore be sought for this business unit.
With regard to Komax Medtech, the market is showing signs of recovery. We also
intend to support the business unit's business more broadly on the basis of
existing technologies and recognized process expertise. In addition, the
initiatives aimed at improving profitability have shown encouraging results. In
view of these favourable conditions, there is no need for action in this area.
We are adhering to our medium-term target.
