(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 11/18/13 -- The Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, made the following statement today after Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced the removal of Daniel Alexander Brown on November 14.

"I commend the efforts of law enforcement officials from the Toronto Immigration Task Force (ITF) to locate individuals who hide in this country illegally. Our government will not tolerate those who disregard Canadian law and abuse our generous immigration system. We are committed to keeping our streets and communities safe, and the ongoing vigilance of our law enforcement teams ensures the success of that effort."

Brown was arrested on November 23, 2012 by members of the Toronto ITF in Brampton, Ontario. He is inadmissible to Canada for serious criminality for having been convicted of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance and possession of stolen property.

The Toronto ITF is comprised of CBSA and Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers who work closely together to investigate immigration cases in the Greater Toronto Area.

To date, as a result of the "Wanted by the CBSA" program, Canadians have assisted in locating 48 individuals in Canada, of which 41 have been removed. Additionally, nine other individuals were located abroad.
