Minister Blaney Commends Canada Border Services Agency on the 50Th Arrest from "Wanted by the CBSA List"

(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 12/16/13 -- The Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, issued the following statement after Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced the arrest of Nashir Ahmed Heydir in Vancouver, BC. Heydir is inadmissible to Canada for serious criminality for having been convicted of an offence outside of Canada that, if committed in Canada, would constitute a Canadian offence. He was convicted of 1st degree criminal sexual conduct in the United States.

"I would like to congratulate Canada Border Services Agency on their 50th arrest from the 'Wanted by the CBSA List.' The safety and security of our citizens is a top priority for our government, and we are committed to supporting law enforcement officers in their work to identify and arrest individuals who endanger our communities."

To date, as a result of the "Wanted by the CBSA" program, 50 individuals have been apprehended in Canada, of which 41 have been removed. Additionally, nine individuals were located abroad.
