Q-Cells' Innovative Technology to Be Used In Select Commercial and Utility
Scale Solar Projects
San Francisco/ Bitterfeld-Wolfen, March 8, 2011 - Q-Cells North America has
signed an 83- megawatt solar cell supply agreement with SunPower Corp.
(Nasdaq: SPWRA, SPWRB). Q-Cells solar technology will be used in select
commercial and utility scale solar projects.
'SunPower has a history of delivering highly-efficient, highly reliable
solar systems, and Q-Cells solar cells align well with our panel
manufacturing operations,' said Howard Wenger, president, utility and power
plants, SunPower Corp.
'Since 2005, the solar industry has grown more than 60 percent per annum
and is expected to expand up to 34 gigawatts by 2015, according to industry
experts,' said Marc van Gerven, CEO of Q-Cells North America. 'Q-Cells
helps to define the industry's standards for quality and reliability and
this agreement gives us the unique opportunity to address this growing
global demand.'
