UMS AG: Off to a Good Start in Fiscal Year 2011 - Consolidated Revenues Up
4% in the First Quarter
Hamburg, May 13, 2011 - UMS United Medical Systems International AG (UMS/
ISIN DE0005493654) continued its revenue growth in the first quarter of
2011. Consolidated revenues amounted to EUR9.3 million, improving by 4%
over the prior year period (EUR8.9 million).
Earnings per share (EPS) for the first three months of the current fiscal
year were EUR0.13. Adjusted for one-off effects the EPS was actually
EUR0.01 or 14% better than last year. In the first quarter of 2010 the
Company had reported earnings per share of EUR0.15, whereby these earnings
included special effects from the sale of equipment and other income in the
amount of EUR0.03 per share. Comparable prior-year earnings therefore were
EUR0.12 per share.
'We performed well in the first quarter of 2011. On a like for like basis,
both sales and earnings improved clearly over prior year in spite of very
difficult weather conditions in February and rising fuel costs', comments
CEO Jorgen Madsen.
Growth continued in April. In addition, by acquiring a competitor in the
field of stereotactic breast biopsies on April 15, 2011, as already
announced, and putting into service an additional lithotripter in Michigan,
UMS AG laid the groundwork for future growth.
UMS AG therefore confirms the earnings target of EUR0.60 to EUR0.70 per
share for the current fiscal year 2011.
