AIA|DC Announces 2014 Chapter Design Awards & Exhibition Opening
Celebrating the Best in Washington, DC Architecture, Design, Preservation and Planning
(firmenpresse) - WASHINGTON, DC -- (Marketwired) -- 12/08/14 -- AIA|DC will celebrate the best work DC has to offer in their 2014 Chapter Design Awards Reception December 16, 2014 from 6pm - 7:30pm at the District Architecture Center. AIA|DC President Sean Nohelty, AIA will lead the awards presentations over hors d'oeuvres and drinks. The evening will also kick off "Showstoppers!", the exhibition of the award-winning projects in the SIGAL Gallery.
A panel of distinguished jurors selected 30 top works in architecture, interior architecture, historic resources and the newest category; urban design and master planning.
"Our latest Chapter Design Award winners show the outstanding quality of work being done in Washington by local and international firms, and the great work our members do across the country. The jurors were quite impressed," remarked Mary Fitch, AIA|DC Executive Director.

Architecture: 96 entries
Interior Architecture: 49 entries
Historic Resources: 20 entries
Urban Design/Master Planning: 16 entries
A round table of prominent members from across the architectural, design and planning communities selected the most notable projects from practitioners and projects across the DC region.

Founded in 1887, the Washington Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA|DC) serves the Nation's Capital. It advances the value of architecture for its members, the profession of architecture, and the community by providing advocacy, leadership and resources for architects to design a better world. AIA|DC was intimately involved in the design and planning of Washington, and continues to play an active role in city development today.
