Jean Roberts Invested into the Order of Canada

(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 07/28/11 -- On behalf of His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, Ms. Emmanuelle Sajous, Deputy Secretary of Honours, presented the insignia of Member of the Order of Canada to Ms. Jean Roberts, during a private ceremony at Bagnols-en-Foret, France, on July 19, 2011. Ms. Roberts was appointed Member of the Order of Canada on October 5, 2006.

Displaying passion, leadership and creativity, Jean Roberts has dedicated her career to the development of the performing arts. Among her numerous accomplishments, she established the theatre department at the National Arts Centre and introduced a playwright-in-residence program. As well, she created and headed the production course at the newly formed National Theatre School in Montreal. Highly respected among her peers, she was involved with the Crest and the Canadian Players theatres, as well as the Stratford Festival. She also served as head of theatre and dance at the Canada Council for the Arts, and taught drama, inspiring new generations of enthusiasts with her love of theatre.
