Update: SIU Investigating Firearm Death in Thornhill
(firmenpresse) - MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 08/03/11 -- Ontario's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is continuing its investigation into the firearm death of a man in Thornhill late Monday evening.
The SIU investigation has determined that on August 1st York Regional Police (YRP) at approximately 11:00 p.m. officers responded to a call on Cottonwood Court. Upon arrival officers interacted with 49-year-old Kaveh Sabouri Tabatabaei. During this interaction two officers discharged their firearms. Mr. Tabatabaei sustained a fatal gunshot injury.
The SIU has designated six officers as witness officers. Two officers have been designated as subject officers. SIU investigators canvassed the area and identified a number of civilian witnesses. They will be interviewed.
