Free Back-to-School Physicals, Health Screenings for Adults and Fun Activities Set for Aug. 20 Health & FamilyFest

(firmenpresse) - CHICAGO, IL -- (Marketwire) -- 08/09/11 -- Start off your day with free health screenings for adults and kids, carnival rides, clowns and refreshments! The community is invited to the annual Health & FamilyFest from 9 a.m. to noon on Aug. 20 at the Saint Mary Campus, 2233 W. Division St., Chicago.
The event is co-sponsored by Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center (SMEMC), Ald. Joe Moreno (1st Ward) and Ald. Scott Waguespack (32nd Ward). It will be held on the west side of Saint Mary's Campus on Oakley Boulevard, between Division Street and Haddon Avenue.
Health & FamilyFest will feature free adult health screenings, including: blood pressure monitoring, cholesterol levels, body measurement index, emotional wellness, diabetes, foot health, wound care services, pain/acupuncture, fitness and well-being. Free back-to-school physicals will be available for kids. Up-to-date immunization records will be required for those having physicals. Physicians will provide consultations.
"We hope families in our community come out that morning and take advantage of the free health screenings and fun activities for the kids," said Gladys Aguirre, R.N., B.S.N., manager of SMEMC's Community Health Education Department. "It's a great festival for the entire family."
The event also will include carnival rides, face paintings, clowns, balloon sculptures and raffle prizes, including gift cards and sports equipment. Parents can register for Illinois All Kids Insurance Program, as well as receive identification cards through the City of Chicago Identification Services Department. Refreshments will be available. Parking is free in the visitor parking lot across from SMEMC.
