Pöyry awarded two rail projects in Spain totalling EUR 2.2 million

Pöyry has been awarded planning services for the railway ring line in Barcelona
and design services for the high-speed rail (HSR) project of the Mediterranean
corridor in Murcia.
Pöyry was awarded a planning study contract by Railways General Directorate of
the Spanish Infra Ministry for a new railway orbital line around Barcelona. The
scope of services includes analysis of the territory, freight and passenger
traffic estimations, conceptual design of infrastructure, establishment of
alternatives, socio-economical analysis and characterization of the selected
alternative. The value of Pöyry's services amounts to EUR 1.1 million.
Pöyry has also signed a design services contract with ADIF, the Spanish agency
in charge of developing the HSR network, for the Lorca-Almendricos section of
the new 300 km/h Mediterranean HSR corridor, designed for both freight and
passenger traffic. The scope of services includes basic and detail design of the
HSR double track platform (including rail, bridges and under-crossing
structures), to be developed during 20 months. The value of Pöyry's services
amounts to about EUR 1.1 million.
These assignments are a continuation of Pöyry's long-term involvement in the
planning of the Spanish railway network. In addition to high-speed rail and
transport planning, Pöyry has experience in Spain covering for instance
conventional passenger and freight rail, passenger terminals, multimodal
transfer stations, logistic platforms and internal traffic networks of harbours.
