Summer workers in high demand again
Record number of summer jobs available through Monster
It seems that summer workers' fight through the "Sorry, no vacancies" wall,
ubiquitous during the downturn, is over for now. Compared with the same time
last year and the year before, the number of summer vacancies is manifold. The
online recruitment fair by the job search service Monster already offers
hundreds of summer jobs in all parts of Finland.
- We can now talk about a record number of summer jobs being offered. Of the
exhibitors at our online fair, Atria, for example, has several hundred summer
jobs available, Helsingin Energia 150, Neste Oil 100. In addition, Arla Ingman,
Altia and Vantaan Energia offer summer work for dozens of young people, Marja
Pylkkänen, Managing Director, Monster, says.
The easiest way to look for a summer job is to save your CV in Monster. The fair
exhibitors use Monster's CV database during the fair.
More than 60,000 visitors during the first weeks of the fair
Monster's recruitment fair, intended for young people, had more than 60,000
visitors from different browsers already during the first week (TNS Metrix). The
fair is open from January 24 to February 20 at the web address
monster.fi/messut. The event offers summer jobs and trainee programmes targeted
at young people. The event brings together 57 employers, who present dozens of
career story and company presentation videos on their virtual booths.
Online video becoming popular
Videos figure prominently in the content of Monster's recruitment fair. They are
produced by GoodMood Productions.
- According to a survey by FICORA, the Finnish Communications Regulatory
Authority, the popularity of online video is constantly growing. Young people
watch short video clips clearly more than older age groups, says Kristiina
Åberg, Marketing Director, GoodMood.
