Ahold share buyback update

Amsterdam, the Netherlands, August 22, 2011 - Ahold has repurchased 1,925,000
Ahold common shares in the period from August 15, 2011 up to and including
August 19, 2011. The shares were repurchased at an average price of ? 8.2937 per
share for a total consideration of ? 15.97 million. These repurchases were made
as part of the ? 1 billion share buyback program announced on March 3, 2011.
The total number of shares repurchased under this program to date is 35,840,228
common shares for a total consideration of ? 330.94 million.
