Gold Glove & All-Star Catcher Among 'Baseball Greats' on Feb. 18 Cruise
(firmenpresse) - FORT LAUDERDALE, FL -- (Marketwire) -- 08/24/11 -- Baseball fans will have the opportunity to sail with former Chicago Cubs catcher Randy Hundley and other "baseball greats" on MSC Poesia's Feb. 18, 2012 Caribbean cruise.
MSC's baseball-themed sailings have been very popular offerings on the line's Caribbean cruises for several years. "Baseball Greats" Caribbean cruises offer free guest/player activities including a player-hosted trivia game, a question-and-answer session, a guest pitching contest, and a lively story-telling session.
Baseball players host hitting, fielding, base running, and defense strategy clinics. One of the most popular aspects of the experience includes a free autograph session.
Randy Hundley was a stellar catcher who played for the Cubs, Giants, Twins and Padres. He caught nearly every Cubs game from 1966-69 and set a Major League record with 160 games behind the plate in 1968. He also was the first player in Major League history to catch 150 or more games for three consecutive years.
His skills behind the plate earned him a Gold Glove in 1967, with a National League record of only four errors, and a place on the 1969 National League All-Star team. Hundley also popularized a new hinged glove that permitted a one-handed catching style.
On Feb. 18, MSC Poesia departs Fort Lauderdale on a 7-night Eastern Caribbean cruise roundtrip itinerary that calls at St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Nassau, Bahamas, including three sea days.
Hundley is expected to be joined on the sailing by fellow "greats" Vida Blue, Jessie Barfield, Cookie Rojas and Stan Bahnsen (participating players are subject to change without notice).
Rates begin at $599 per person, double occupancy; government fees and taxes are additional.
