Latvian Investment Forum arranged by the Embassy of Latvia in Sweden

(Thomson Reuters ONE) - The current economic and financial environment obliges governmentsand businesses across the globe to review their old modes ofoperation and come up with new development strategies to revitalizecompetitiveness and put in place more sustainable economicstructures. With this in mind, the Government of Latvia has initiateda series of policy measures to make the business environment inLatvia more attractive, especially in the real economy. Generousstate incentives are available to new and existing foreign investorsready and willing to invest in high-value-added and job-creatingactivities capitalizing on Latvia's distinguished natural andgeopolitical advantages, as well as its pool of highly qualifiedlabour.The Embassy of Latvia in Sweden arranges, together with theInvestment and Development Agency of Latvia an Investment Forum withLatvian government decision makers as well as businessrepresentatives from Latvia and Sweden. This event takes place inconnection with the Baltic Development Forum - a Baltic Sea Regionsummit.The main sectors of interest are transports and logistics,wood-working and engineering, all offering great possibilities forSwedish investors. These sectors are considered to be the base for astrong and sustainable international competitiveness in the future.The Forum will be moderated by Dr. Christian Ketels, Harvard BusinessSchool / Stockholm School of Economics, as well as member of the HighLevel Advisory Group to the Latvian Prime Minister. Speakers are,among others the Latvian Minister of Economy Mr. Artis Kampars, thedirector of the Latvian Investment and Development Agency Mr. AndrisOzols and the Honorary Chairman of the Foreign Investors Council inLatvia and CEO of General Electric Nordic and Baltic States Mr. HansEnocson. The programme continues with presentations of concreteinvestment possibillities in the three sectors of priority and somesuccess cases.The event takes place on October 6th, 2 pm, at the Embassy of Latvia,Odengatan 5 in Stockholm.
