Monaco: the 4th Monte-Carlo Gala for the Global Ocean, Copyright: Mandoga Media(firmenpresse) - Presided by HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, the 4th Monte-Carlo Gala for the Global Ocean will take place on Thursday, September 24, 2020. This major fundraising event will again welcome international artists and philanthropists for an exclusive gala night in favor of the Foundation’s worldwide initiatives for a sustainable Ocean.
Representing more than 70% of the planet’s surface and 97% of the biosphere, the global Ocean plays a key role in climate regulation and absorbs 25% of the carbon dioxide released in the atmosphere. The Monte-Carlo Gala aims at meeting the challenge of a preserved Ocean, for the next generations and for our Planet’s future.
This prestigious evening, organized by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and Mr. Milutin Gatsby, Global Fundraising Chairman, has positioned itself as one of the most memorable charity events in the world, offering guests once-in-a-life time experience. On the program of this 2020 edition on the Terraces of the Opera of Monaco: red carpet, cocktail reception, dinner prepared by a Chef and performances by international artists.An exceptional auction will punctuate the night, filled with unique experiences, collectibles and memorabilia, and a selection of fine art from some of the world’s most important artists.
Proceeds from the auction will support the Foundation’s initiatives dedicated to the Ocean: the development of marine protected areas, the protection of threatened marine species, the mitigation of the impact of climate change and acidification on the Ocean, the promotion of innovation and the fight against plastic pollution.
Since the very first edition of the Monte-Carlo Gala for the Global Ocean, international celebrities gave us their support, lending their voices to the essential cause of protecting the Ocean. The 2019 edition welcomed as Masters of Ceremony Nicole Kidman, Uma Thurman and Andy Garcia. Past event chairs and co-chairs included Patricia Arquette, Alina Baikova, Li Bingbing, Adrien Brody, Pierce Brosnan, Gerard Butler, Li Chen, Hailey Clauson, Toni Garrn, Hugh Grant, G.E.M, Goldie Hawn, Constance Jablonski, Robert F. In the occasion of the Monte-Carlo Gala for the Global Ocean 2017 and 2018, the 'Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation Special Award’ went to Leonardo DiCaprio and Orlando Bloom in recognition of their outstanding work and commitment for environmental preservation. World-renowned actor, activist, director, and producer Robert Redford was honored in 2019.

The Monte-Carlo gala for the Global Ocean is organized by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation with the support of the Monaco Yacht Show, the oceanographic Institute, the Yacht Club of Monaco, the Société des Bains de Mer and the Monaco Private Label.
