Wärtsilä wins more power plant operation contracts from Brazil
(Thomson Reuters ONE) - Wärtsilä Corporation, Trade and Technical Press release, 24 September2009In Brazil, Wärtsilä has now achieved the impressive position ofhaving 1.0 GW of electrical output under operations and maintenanceagreements. The agreements cover 12 power plants in differentlocations.Wärtsilä, a leading supplier of flexible power plants and services tothe decentralized power generation market, has been contracted tooperate and maintain the Geramar I and Geramar II power plants inMiranda do Norte, Brazil. Both plants are located on the same site,and are each supplied with 19 Wärtsilä 20V32 engines. The plants willgenerate a total of 320 MW of electrical output to the national grid.This 5-year operations and maintenance (O&M) agreement means thatWärtsilä will take full responsibility for the efficient operation ofthe plant, and for all service and maintenance functions. It isestimated that the contract will result in the creation ofapproximately 60 new jobs for local applicants."In Brazil, Wärtsilä is now responsible for operating and maintaining12 power plants in various parts of the country.
