- NEW: Q-Cells solar modules meet requirements for the Italian market
Bitterfeld-Wolfen, 5 September 2011 - Q-Cells increases and secures yields
of its customers. This is the message which the photovoltaic company from
the German federal state of Saxony-Anhalt is giving, introducing its
innovative products at the 26th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy
Conference and Exhibition (EU PVSEC) in Hamburg. The presentation of new
photovoltaic technologies, profitable products and applications and the
company's premium seal of quality focuses on the issues of efficiency and
sustainable yields.
'The international trade fair in Hamburg is an important platform for us as
a German producer to assert our claim to quality and technology leadership
in the photovoltaic industry,' explained Nedim Cen, CEO of Q-Cells SE.
'We are setting milestones in the industry with our range of innovative
products and applications. If you trust in Q-Cells, you will have the best
guarantee of maximum yields.'
The Q.PEAK BLK monocrystalline solar module combines the latest
yield-improving technologies with excellent design. The all-black module
consists of fully square monocrystalline solar cells, a black back sheet
and a black frame. It is particularly well suited for applications with the
most exacting architectural requirements due to its elegant design.
Architects and solar engineers are now able for the first time to install
modern, highly efficient photovoltaic systems on roofs and facades of
buildings with high aesthetic requirements, for instance villas or
representative commercial properties. Q.PEAK BLK also offers output of up
to 255 watt-peaks, exceeding all other performance values that have
previously been realised with such applications. With Q.PEAK BLK modules,
owners can even achieve top yields with small areas.
Q-Cells supports its product presentations with the 'Q-Cells Yield
Security' seal of quality, a globally unique set of measures. Owners of
Q-Cells solar plants benefit from modern quality control technologies,
additional module features and extended guarantees. This means investments
in photovoltaic products by Q-Cells will pay off faster compared to the
offering of other manufacturers. The package includes advanced quality
tests and exceptionally comprehensive guarantees, and features technologies
to avoid power losses due to potential induced degradation (Anti PID
Technology) and module damage as a result of local overheating, so-called
hot spots (Hot-Spot Protect). Thanks to the 'Traceable Quality' - Tra.QTM -
laser signature technology, Q-Cells' solar cells and modules can be traced
back and are forgery-proof. The Q.SMART thin-film modules from Q-Cells
offer improved product quality due to positive sorting and module
optimisation, enabling an increase in output of up to 15% without incurring
additional costs (Additional Power Boost). These modules also feature 360°Efficiency, making them the ideal solution for installation at unfavourable
angles of inclination or when light is poor. Consequently, roofs and
facades can be optimally used and plants of any orientation provide good
yields. Four independent institutes and the solar companies Q-Cells, Schott
Solar and Solon have carried out an unrepresentative test and jointly
developed initial test conditions for potential induced degradation of
solar modules. Q-Cells and the two other German manufacturers confirmed
PID resistance of their solar modules in the test. The test conditions are
consistent with those Q-Cells applies to inspect crystalline solar modules
for PID and ensure quality.
Another newcomer in Q-Cells' portfolio is the Flat Roof System: It allows
installing solar modules at an angle of inclination of 10°, compared to
30°, and oriented to the east and west. This prevents mutual shadowing
between modules at unfavourable angles of irradiation, as often occurs with
standard systems with 30°elevation. The system provides for installing
modules almost across the entire roof area (more than 80%). System owners
can record significantly higher energy yields. Flat roof systems have
little exposure to wind and can be installed economically without causing
drilling damage. The system also opens up new potential for solar
applications, making it possible to install modules on commercial or
industrial roofs with static or structural issues. 'This flat roof system
is another step towards becoming a solutions provider,' said Thomas Raadts,
head of marketing and product management at Q-Cells SE.
Showcasing Q.ANTUM, Q-Cells is presenting its world record-setting cell
technology to a wide range of professionals. Thanks to this technology a
polycrystalline 60-cell solar module has already achieved an efficiency
rating of 18.1% in the laboratory, a global industry first. The unique
efficiency of this module is due to an innovative, polycrystalline 6-inch
high-performance cell: Driven by the Power- Reflector on the rear panel,
this cell delivered the record efficiency of 19.5% in April 2011. Q-Cells'
research and development has successfully transferred the cell concept to
monocrystalline silicon material. Q.ANTUM monocrystalline cells achieve an
efficiency rating of 20.2% and enable production of solar modules with
record output of 287 watt-peaks. The independent calibration laboratory run
by Fraunhofer ISE (Institute for Solar Energy) in Freiburg confirmed these
results. In June 2011, the Industrial Initiative for Central Germany
presented Q-Cells with the IQ Innovation Award for its Q.ANTUM cell
concept. 'The series of world records in the fields of crystalline silicon
technology underscores our quality promise and is proof of our
technological top position as a German producer in the solar industry,'
said Peter Wawer, Senior Vice President Technology with Q-Cells SE. 'One of
the most powerful cell concepts on the market, Q.ANTUM will offer our
customers high yields.'
Made in EU is rewarded with an extra 10%: The Association for Electrical,
Electronic&Information Technologies (VDE) has confirmed that Q-Cells
products comply with the Europe clause of Conto Energias IV in Italy,
qualifying for a 10% feed-in tariff premium. This law establishes that 60%
of value creation in producing system components has to take place in
Europe. VDE issued Q-Cells with the required certificate at the beginning
of September 2011. Customers who buy Q-Cells products will benefit from
higher feed-in tariffs and superior European quality standards.
Employees from Q-Cells research and development department are set to give
talks on research findings and trends at the EU PVSEC conference. Q-Cells
can be found in hall B6, booth A38. We are looking forward to seeing you.
