Most of the world woke up to the news that Steve Jobs, Silicon Valley entrepreneur, the master of change had died at the age of 56. Born in 1955 in San Francisco, Steve, a Buddhist and son of adoptive parents started Apple Computer with his friend Steve Wozniak in his parent's garage in 1976. He foresaw the world as it was about to become and in 1984 he launched his ground breaking Macintosh built on the technologies developed at Xerox Parc.
Group's staff were saddened to hear of his passing and many have posted tributes on the blogs which have been launched in his memory. "It will be difficult to comprehend life without this charismatic man. It is very sad," said Jesse Young Per DM's CEO
Steve's death after a years-long battle with pancreatic cancer has created an unprecedented outpouring of tributes for a business icon from world leaders, business rivals and fans.
U.S. President Barack Obama issued a statement saying "The world has lost a visionary. And there may be no greater tribute to Steve's success than the fact that much of the world learned of his passing on a device he invented,"
Perhaps his greatest rival Microsoft's, Bill Gates was moved to say: "For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it's been an insanely great honour,"
Apple Inc issued a statement: "Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve,"
It was his passion for making a difference that drove him and his sense of mortality is best put by the man himself. "Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life," he said in 2005. "Because almost everything, all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure. These things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important."
"The tragedy of his premature passing is that this man was Apple and it will be the greatest testimony to himself if the company continues to go from strength to strength," said the CEO. "However, for now, the world will mourn the death of a truly gifted and visionary man."
