iFactory Announces the Launch of the University Press Scholarship Online

(firmenpresse) - BOSTON, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/12/11 -- 7,000 titles in 21 subject areas from 6 leading university presses... the new University Press Scholarship Online () has launched!
A collaboration between Oxford University Press and , the new University Press Scholarship Online (UPSO) delivers the best scholarly publishing from leading university presses around the world, making disparately-published works easily accessible, highly-discoverable, and fully cross-searchable via a single, state-of-the-art online platform.
The creation of UPSO is pivotal for iFactory, as it was developed using the new PubFactory module, . SiteGen is a tool that puts power in the publisher's hands by enabling them to create numerous microsites built off of their base site, in this case, OSO and the other university press sites that are delivered on the UPSO platform.
"We knew that re-launching our flagship Oxford Scholarship Online product while simultaneously expanding it to allow us to deliver content through our University Press Scholarship Online offering would be a tall order for any developer. iFactory delivered these mission-critical products on time and on budget," said Scott Beebe, Online Publishing Manager for Oxford University Press.
Sitting within the UPSO platform, the re-launched Oxford Scholarship Online (OSO) is a vast and rapidly-expanding research library that offers full-text access to academic monographs from key disciplines in the humanities, social sciences, science, medicine, and law. Built on iFactory's publishing platform, , the new OSO provides new user functionality and features a brand new look and feel.
The other sites produced on UPSO with SiteGen include , , , , and .
"From their deep understanding of XML to a keen eye for design and usability, our team at iFactory was able to deliver a product that exceeded our expectations and is sure to excite and inspire our users," continued Beebe. "We look forward to collaborating with iFactory again on the next round of innovative products from OUP."
Said Tom Beyer, Director of Publishing at iFactory, "We were excited to work on UPSO. Not only does it represent a significant improvement over the previous OSO site, but it also represents the first production deployment of our new SiteGen module. The fact that this deployment includes seven different sites, over 7,000 books, and almost 1,000 contents sets is proof positive that SiteGen is ready for primetime. That OUP can add new content, and new university press sites moving forward without needing support from us will, I think, prove to be a real game changer in the industry."
