Calgary's Chinook Centre One of Canada's Strongest Performing Shopping Centres Having Reached Sales of $1,000 Per Square Foot
(firmenpresse) - CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/21/11 -- Calgary-based Chinook Centre announced today sales results for the month of September have solidified its position as a leading Canadian shopping destination. Sales since the opening of its expansion in October 2010 have steadily been on the rise and have exceeded senior management expectations well ahead of plan. Executives anticipated breaking $1,000 per square foot by the end of December 2011, however the threshold has been passed as of September, even before the influx of holiday shoppers.
"We've had our eye on the magical number of $1,000 per square foot for as long as I can remember, and to have reached it ahead of expectation is a real testament to the strength of Alberta's economy - and to Calgary's appetite for world-class retail," said Terry Napper, general manager, Chinook Centre. "We attribute our success to providing the strongest variety of retail in Southern Alberta, including over 30 unique to market brands. Our retail mix now resonates as much with the teenager as it does with the sophisticated shopper seeking luxury brands," he said.
Chinook's 2010 expansion saw the addition of over 60 retailers to the already thriving centre including Anthropologie, Burberry, Coach, Harry Rosen, Michael Kors, Scotch & Soda and Tiffany & Co. Sales at Chinook have increased by $200 million or 65% since November 1st, 2010 with the opening of the expansion.
The excitement at Chinook is expected to continue over the balance of 2011 with the opening of Bernard Callebaut, Boston Pizza, Express, Pink, Swatch with additional retailer announcements expected for 2012.
