Construction start for Victoria Tower in Kista
(Thomson Reuters ONE) - Today, the first sod will be officially cut for Stockholm's secondhighest building, Victoria Tower, whose tenants include the new hotelScandic Kista. Inofficially, construction has already started inearnest.With its 120 metres, Victoria Tower will be the second highestbuilding in Stockholm after the Kaknästornet. Building a 33-storeyhotel cannot be done overnight and the building contractor ArthurBuchardts AB Invest AS has therefore already begun blasting andexcavation work. The hotel will be completed within two years.The hotel will have a distinctive design. The glass facades of thehotel will appear to glitter at dusk. Wingårdhs Arkitektkontor isresponsible for the design. The hotel, located adjacent to theexhibition and events centre Kistamässan, will be operated by ScandicHotels. Victoria Tower will contain 300 hotel rooms and 10 floorswith around 5,000 sq.m. of office space.
