Komax shows impressive powers of innovation at the Productronica
(Thomson Reuters ONE) - Komax is presenting a host of new products at the Productronica, thetop trade show for the wire processing industry held every two years. In doing so, the global market leader in wire processing isunderscoring its potent powers of innovation. The Productronica held every two years in Munich is the mostimportant trade show in wire processing. Komax will be on hand againto present a number of product innovations in this sector. Despitethe difficult economic climate, Komax has energetically pusheddevelopment work on new products. It therefore offers customersinnovative solutions that will prepare them for the coming upturn.Innovations revolve primarily around miniaturization, qualitycontrol, flexibility and increased production output.Ultra-flexible product developmentThe new product innovations from Komax come mainly in response to newtrends in the market. Komax is therefore presenting new machines atthe Productronica or building on established advances to make provenequipment even better. As always, we focus on generating even morebenefits for our customers with our new products. In general, there are four prominent trends right now for which Komaxis presenting innovations:Miniaturization: The Komax machines have been newly developed toallow the processing of even smaller sized cables, particularly forinsertion in miniaturized housings. For instance, the new Zeta633/656 processes conductor cross sections of 0.13mm2 andminiaturized housings with a grid spacing of 1.25 mm. Manual loadingof these housings ranges from difficult to impossible and is highlyprone to error. Komax meets this challenge with the Zeta 633/656, amodel that can even produce harnesses with small components fullyautomatically.Quality optimization: CFA+, a new generation of crimp force analysis, combines quality with high production output. This feature helps indetermining the optimum setting parameters and in detecting setuperrors. CFA+ ensures optimum monitoring during production and is soeasy to understand and to operate.More flexibility: The new automatic crimping machines are fitted withoptimized open interfaces, so they remain flexible in accommodatingthe mounting of processing modules. One example is the new Alpha 355S, a model now positioned between the Alpha 355 and the Alpha 356.Larger production output: Komax strives to boost the performance ofexisting products while making them easier for users to operate. TheAlpha 355, Alpha 356 and Alpha 455 machines have been optimized inways that improve their productivity and the monitoring of machineperformance while making inkjet marking even more flexible.Multi-conductor twisting with the new semiautomatic bt 188 is anotherexample of an innovation from Komax. It features excellent twistingquality at a high rate of speed. With the option for precisemulti-conductor twisting on the new bt 188, Komax offers a solutionthat is efficient in terms of quality and economy. This product is agreat value for the money. This option and its clever design allowsthree or four conductors to be twisted with no pitch errors. The new ims 295 inkjet marking system has an impressive scope ofapplication. It can be used as a fully integrated inkjet in all fullyautomatic Komax wire processing machines or as an offline inkjet. Forthe first time, Komax is also presenting a laser marker capable ofmarking wire while it is being drawn in to the machine. With its new Zeta 633 L, Komax offers a model that expands the rangeof use of the Zeta systems. The additional processing stations reducethe required material changes and interruptions to production. Formany applications, no extension is needed and the overall cost ofinvestment is substantially lower. This makes the Zeta 633 L theperfect system for the production of wire harnesses for controlcabinet construction.Last but not least, Komax will unveil the new Kappa product family ofautomatic cut and strip machines. The five new machine types haveunique functions, such as the automatic measurement of the conductordiameter at the press of a button.Komax constantly refines and expands the solutions it offers, so itscustomers benefit from the highly flexible and efficient uses towhich the various systems can be put. Please feel free to pay a visit to Komax at the Productronica inMunich from 10 to 13 November: hall B4, stand 325.Change in Group ManagementAt the end of March 2010, Josef Zumstein, a member of GroupManagement and Head of Sales and Marketing in the Wire business unit, will be taking early retirement at his own request. Mr Zumstein hasbeen with Komax for 30 years. CEO Beat Kälin will remain Head of theWire business unit. Background information about the Komax GroupKomax is the world's leading maker of crimp-to-crimp machines in thewire processing market, commanding a market share of 40 percent.Komax equipment ranges from wire cutting and stripping machines tosystems for the fully automatic manufacture of entire harnesses. In the photovoltaic sector, Komax sells machines the world over forthe manufacture of crystalline and thin-film modules.
