USB-Powered, Voltage Clamp, Current Clamp, Digitizer, and Headstage All-in-One

(firmenpresse) - FOOTHILL RANCH, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/09/11 -- Tecella has released the Pico 2, a full-featured, USB-powered, low-noise patch clamp amplifier with an integrated digitizer and headstage.

Just 1.8 inches (4.5cm) wide and just 3 ounces (85 grams) in weight, the Pico can easily be mounted directly onto a micromanipulator. Sutter, Siskiyou, and NeoBiosystems all provide mounting solutions for the Pico 2.

Software support for the Pico 2 includes WinWCP from the University of Strathclyde (spider.science.strath.ac.uk/sipbs/software_ses.htm) and jClamp from the SciSoft Company (), as well as TecellaLab software. SDK/API is available for custom development and integration.

"Pico 2 is a pocket-size patch clamp for all 'patchologists,'" states Dr. Al Walter, Director. With voltage/current clamp capabilities and 5 gain settings, the Pico 2 is ideally suited for whole cell, single channel (patch, planar lipid bilayer, and synthetic nanopore), and cellular electrochemistry applications. Standard compensation circuits include series resistance, fast capacitance, three slow capacitances, and junction potential offset. The patented spread frequency compensation can automatically compensate any arbitrary capacitance profile in approximately 3 seconds. Pico 2 measures just 5.6" x 1.8" x 0.7" (14.2cm x 4.5cm x 1.8cm) and consumes less than 1 watt of power.
