RoodMicrotec - Trading Update

In the third quarter of 2011, RoodMicrotec's total sales fell significantly,
both compared to the second quarter of 2011 and to the third quarter of 2010.
The total sales growth for 2011, however, has so far exceeded the growth rate
for the industry published by the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA).
The number of orders fell due to restraint among our customers. This resulted in
lower sales in all sectors except Failure & Technology Analysis. Recruiting new
engineers is therefore aiding results. Meanwhile, we are seeing the number of
order applications picking up again, which is an important indicator for medium-
term orders (2012).
Key events
Over the past few months, the Test & Related Services was moved from Stuttgart
to Nördlingen. All test activities are now concentrated on a single site, which
offers far more opportunities to cost-effectively match capacity to sales
fluctuations.
Furthermore, a new logistics system is currently being implemented.
Increasing sales will remain a priority for the next few months.
Personnel
The relocation of Test & Related Services has kept personnel overcapacity in
check. A number of positions have been phased out. We are keeping the option of
short-time working open.
Outlook 2011
Based on current views, the growth of the semiconductor market will not reach
the level that the SIA has forecasted for the end of 2011.
In view of the development of sales we expect, in line with the development of
the semiconductor market (SIA), a decrease of sales in the second half of 2011.
We maintain our previously defined long-term objectives to realise annual
autonomous growth of between 5 and 15% at 8% average growth of the semiconductor
market, to improve the operating result and the net result and to further reduce
our debt position.
