Atea reaches milestone as they enter top15 of the Nordic Carbon Disclosure
Leadership Index.
In the newly released annual Nordic Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index Atea has
scored 84 out of 100. This ranks Atea in the top15, as number 13 out of a total
of 260 Nordic companies, and number 2 within the IT sector. The index creates an
overview of the organizations' carbon emissions and ability to measure and
disclose this information, water use and climate change strategies.
"We are very proud to be included amongst the top 15 companies in the Nordic
carbon disclosure leadership index as it is a testament to our ongoing efforts
in reducing our carbon footprint. Back in 2007 we realized that we were no
longer able to change the situation, instead we were challenged to change
ourselves. We therefore developed an ambitious climate strategy for Atea and
integrated it into our core business strategy and operations," says president &
CEO Claus Hougesen, Atea ASA.
As part of Atea's climate strategy, the environmental management system ISO
14001 has been implemented and a carbon reduction plan was introduced, which
included a 25 % reduction of CO(2 )-emissions per employee by 2015 compared with
2007 figures.
"For the past four years we have successfully managed to reduce our emissions by
15 %, which is over halfway to our 2015 target. From a financial perspective, we
have generated savings of over MNOK 31 by reducing our emissions. We still have
room to improve, and we are on the right path as thinking and acting green has
become part of our DNA today," says Claus Hougesen.
