Activities on the Philippines
Amsterdam, 19 December 2011: Curcas Oil N.V.'s Philippines subsidiary
Curcas Oil Philippines Inc. started the development of 100 hectares of
Jatropha Plantation on the Northern island of Luzon, at Baranggay Labney,
Mayantoc, Tarlac, Philippines with the option to increase the size of the
plantation to totally 5,000 hectares in the coming 3 years.
Therefore Curcas Oil Philippines Inc. has signed an agreement with Dario A.
Jose, the Tribal Mayor of Baranggay Labney Mayantoc, Tarlac giving the
company the rights to cultivate the 100 hectares of ancestral land in
Baranggay Labney, Mayantoc, Tarlac, Philippines, for a period of 25 years.
The site will be developed as a so called intercropping site, where the
company is going to plant Peanuts between the Jatropha trees in order to
improve the future cash flows. Intercropping has two essential advantages.
On the one hand, Peanut plants will serve as a weed eliminator. On the
other hand, Peanuts will provide cash flow after just four months and gives
the company the opportunity to cover the fixed monthly expenses incurring
from the development of the Jatropha Plantation. Peanuts planted in August
2011 as a trial have created first cash flows in December 2011 to prove
that Peanuts can create additional cash flow as long as the Jatropha trees
are getting mature.
Curcas Oil Philippines Inc. has also established an on-site nursery to
germinate Jatropha seedlings to be planted from January 2012 onwards with a
monthly rate of 5 hectares during 2012.
