(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 12/24/12 -- Public Safety Minister Vic Toews made a statement today on the arrest of Cory Alexie Bygrave, who is featured on the "Wanted by the CBSA" list. Bygrave was arrested on December 20 in Scarborough, Ontario, by Canada Border Services Agency officers attached to the Toronto Immigration Task Force.

"This individual is inadmissible to Canada for being convicted of careless use of a firearm, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition and trafficking in a controlled substance.

His arrest sends a clear message to others who pose a threat to our society, that this government is committed to ensuring Canadians can live and raise their families in safe, secure communities.

The ongoing success of the 'Wanted by the CBSA' program is a testament to our determination to identify, detain and remove those who enter or live here illegally, or who have broken the law and endangered our communities."

To date, as a result of the "Wanted by the CBSA" program, 37 individuals have been apprehended in Canada, of which 25 have been removed. In addition, five individuals were located abroad.
