(firmenpresse) - WASHINGTON, DC -- (Marketwired) -- 10/01/13 -- MGAC completed the consolidation and relocation of the for the . The office is charged with preventing, preparing for, and responding to the adverse health effects of public health emergencies and disasters.

MGAC was retained by HHS to provide leadership and management of the complex, phased relocation process, which consolidated 593 ASPR personnel from five separate locations into the Tip O'Neill Building, located at 200 C Street, SW in Washington, DC. MGAC managed the coordination of design, construction, IT, audio-visual and security systems design and installation, furniture design, procurement and installation, and the relocation of ASPR personnel into 150,000 square feet of the 348,000 square foot building. MGAC expertly managed ASPR's adherence to the HHS directive to reduce utilization rates for personnel to 170 square feet or less per person. As such, the project is an excellent example of a federal agency successfully reducing its real estate footprint, better utilizing office space, and saving the U.S. taxpayer money in the process.

ASPR joins staff from the House of Representatives in the newly renovated federal building which features energy and water-efficient fixtures and low-VOC materials. ASPR carried the green theme into its own space, with a goal of reusing all of its existing furniture. MGAC spearheaded this major logistical undertaking by managing the break down, relocation and reinstallation of all furniture from multiple locations in nine separate moves, all while allowing ASPR to remain fully operational.

MGAC's strategic coordination of the furniture re-use program allowed ASPR to reuse 93% of its office furniture, achieving $5 million in savings for the federal government. This strategy also shortened ASPR's purchasing cycle and achieved all the office's furniture budget and schedule goals.

MGAC is a leader in the delivery of facilities that are based on sustainable design and operational principles and worked closely with ASPR to ensure compliance with Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) goals for the building, which is seeking Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
