Minister Blaney Announces Cyber Security Guide for Small and Medium Businesses

The guide is intended to help small or medium business owners understand cyber security risks and provide them with practical advice on how to better protect their business and employees from cyber threats.

"Cyber security is a shared responsibility and our Government is taking strong action to provide information and tools to help Canadian business-owners protect themselves online," said Minister Blaney. "Small and medium-sized businesses are at the heart of our economy. Unfortunately, they are being increasingly targeted by cyber criminals. The release of the Get Cyber Safe Guide for Small and Medium Businesses is a helpful step toward assisting Canadian businesses stay safe, secure, and prosperous in cyberspace."

The guide provides advice and tips on how business owners can set up a sound cyber security process, identify threats and risks, establish safeguards, and put in place the management structures needed to keep these protections up-to-date. Minister Blaney emphasized the importance of businesses adopting the simple practices outlined in the guide.

The release of this guide comes during Cyber Security Awareness Month, a time dedicated to increasing collective efforts to improve cyber security and improving Canadian's knowledge of online safety.
