Hamburg, 12.08.2011 - UMS United Medical Systems International AG (UMS/
ISIN DE0005493654) today released its figures for the first six months 2011
that confirm the preliminary figures announced on August 5, 2011.
In H1 2011 UMS Group's revenues amounted to EUR18.6 million after EUR19.3
million in the previous year. The weakness of the U.S. dollar reduces
significantly the earnings shown in euros. If the exchange rate effects are
ignored, revenues grew by 3%.
Consolidated profit amounted to EUR4.6 million in the first six months of
2011; EUR1.2 million of this amount was attributable to Group shareholders
(H1 2010: EUR1.4 million). As a result, earnings per share reached EUR0.24,
EUR0.04 below the previous year at constant exchange rates.
Group earnings have been - beside the weak U.S. dollar - adversely affected
by two one-time factors. For one, the cost of integrating companies rose
above expectations, especially for the competitor Mobile Biopsy, which was
acquired in April 2011. Another factor is the delay in signing up customers
for the fleet of radiology equipment. Many of these deals were expected to
close in the first half of 2011.
Given this development, UMS AG has revised its earnings projections from
today's vantage point, the Company now expects earnings per share of
EUR0.45 to EUR0.55 for fiscal year 2011. Previously UMS AG had expected
earnings of between EUR0.60 and EUR0.70 per share.
UMS AG expects to maintain its dividend policy for 2011, as long as the US
dollar against the Euro does not weaken substantially from its current
trading range.
