Realtors(R) Rally for the Future of Homeownership in Ohio
(firmenpresse) - WASHINGTON, DC -- (Marketwire) -- 09/07/11 --
As part of a nationwide bus tour, the National Association of Realtors® is joining the Ohio Association of Realtors® at a press conference and Realtor® rally in Columbus on Monday, September 12. NAR 2012 First Vice President Steve Brown and Ohio Association of Realtors® President Meg Hudson will join elected officials to discuss how national real estate issues could impact the lives of Ohio residents.
Last year, Ohio homeowners benefiting from the mortgage interest deduction took an average of more than $8,000 in deductions, and nationally, in a recent survey over one-third of homeowners reported that the MID helps their family "very much" or "a great deal" in today's economy. Despite the fact that this tax deduction benefits primarily middle- and lower income families and helps many people become homeowners, some public policymakers are considering reducing or eliminating this important benefit.
In addition, Congress may reduce current FHA loan limits from 125 percent of the local area median home price to 115 percent of the local median home price. In some parts of Ohio, this could mean a loan limit reduction of more than $161,000.
Realtors® and members of the public are invited to attend this event as part of NAR's Home Ownership Matters nationwide bus tour. The bus is currently touring the country, giving people the opportunity and resources to make their voices heard about the housing issues that matter most to them. Ongoing news and information for the tour will be posted at .
The National Association of Realtors®, "The Voice for Real Estate," is America's largest trade association, representing 1.1 million members involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries.
